THEME TEST 2
29 September @ 10:00 - 11:30 CEST

Short description.
“Personally, sustainable tourism brings purpose to my travels. I recognise it as a solution-driven approach to spread goodness in the world! The accessibility to interact with a global network of passionate people using tourism to drive change at respective capacities is great! To be able to contribute value to this network closely knitted by Green Destinations is extraordinary! The power of such a community is limitless, and it’s only an honour to be a part of the collective!”.
“No business that doesn’t invest in sustainability will survive the next decade. Tourism means thousands of people bringing their carbon footprint from one place to the other, with every single travel. It is a big industry where hosts, travellers and operators must be conscious and careful about their impact on nature, local resources and communities. I’m in the “hosting” part of the business and I want to create a sustainable environment for my guests. I think, with sincere enthusiasm and passionate teamwork, even the smallest business can provide environmentally friendly services.
Since the beginning of my sustainability journey, I wanted to share my experience with other small business owners and convince them that the implementation of sustainability practices are not as difficult as they sound. Being part of Green Destinations as a Brand Ambassador excites me because I want to share and reach a bigger audience. If I can influence even one other small business to take action I would feel like taking another step towards saving the planet!”.
“I am already an auditor for the Green Destinations certificate and I felt that I could do more. The main issue in Estonia is that people do not have enough information about labels and certificates which they could trust and fully understand. I am taking on the ambassador challenge to raise awareness and trust in sustainability labels. Sustainable tourism for me is a holistic approach to the destination or the traveler, taking into account everything related to travel – the local people, local culture, following all the rules and regulations set in place, and focusing on nature protection and biodiversity. “.
“Sustainable tourism helps the development of local populations and protects the environment instead of degrading it. It’s a general term to say we are trying to save the destinations from bad habits like over-tourism, for example, considering pollution and the destination capacity! I am excited to be helpful for something that I care about, which is developing sustainable tourism in my country (and the world) and spread the word so people know they have the option, as well as being able to tell myself I am doing something and not just examining the world catastrophes without real actions. Getting information out there is something really important.”.
“My purpose is to make a change in the World, to raise awareness to the public while supporting local communities with education, humanitarian work, sustainable way of traveling and eco-friendly approach to tourism. I believe that media has a huge impact and I am proud to be an ambassador for Green Destinations.”.
“Sustainable tourism to me is an intentional commitment to the type of travel that conserves the natural, built and cultural resources of the destinations, leaving them as better places to leave in for the local communities and interesting places to return to for the visitors. I would love to be at the forefront to promote responsible tourism destinations not only for their publicity but also as best practices to be emulated by all destinations nationally, regionally and globally. As such, being a Green Destinations Ambassador comes as fulfillment and voluntary extension of my passion, professional engagement and academic accomplishment”.
“I was originally from Sant Cugat (Barcelona) and currently, I reside in Catalonia, Spain. For me, sustainable tourism means a better version of tourism. For both ourselves and the planet. For all. After almost 10 years of studying and working in the tourism sector, the time has come to make a shift towards a sustainable approach within tourism – I think there is always room to do good and do better. That’s why I am excited to be a part of the Green Destinations’ Community!”.
“Right now I call the beautiful city of Nijmegen my home, which also happens to be one of the ten Green Destinations of The Netherlands! To me, sustainable tourism is not a type of tourism, but rather a guideline to all types of tourism which ensures that all negative impacts, with regards to the environmental, economic and sociocultural dimensions of tourism, are minimized and positive impacts are maximized. I am incredibly excited to be a part of the Green Destinations’ Community and I cannot wait to share and exchange experiences and knowledge about sustainable tourism with other like-minded people!”.
“My favourite destination is Portugal because it was my first time traveling internationally by myself. I am honored to have been selected as a Green Destinations’ Ambassador. My entrance to international travel was traveling with a group of practitioners and lawyers from around the world to a different city in the summers, workshopping local challenges and opportunities around sustainability and often tourism. I live for that sort of travel where you really learn about a place and its people. There are always connections across locations. I am excited to bring those lenses to a wider audience and learn more about places I haven’t been…yet!”.
