City Tour: SNFCC and the Stavros Niarchos Park
26 September @ 18:00 - 20:00 EEST
Deadline for registrations: 22th September
The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) is an architectural landmark of contemporary Athens and a public space, where everyone has free access and can participate in a multitude of cultural, educational, athletic, environmental and recreational activities and events. It includes the Greek National Opera, the National Library of Greece as well as the Stavros Niarchos Park, the largest public Mediterranean garden in the world.
Designed to have the lowest possible environmental impact, the SNFCC is a hub of sustainability and innovation. Since the inception of its creation by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) and architect Renzo Piano, sustainability has been a
fundamental prerequisite and key element of the project.
The architectural design and technologically advanced construction of the SNFCC, a prominent example of which is its Energy Canopy, make it one of the most environmentally sustainable buildings in the world. Since the first years of its
operation, the SNFCC has been evolving into a metropolitan park governed by the principles of sustainability, both at the operational level and across the entire range of activities it implements to raise awareness and inform the public.
Explore and wander around the magnificent premises of the SNFCC and the Stavros Niarchos Park through a guided tour for free on Monday, September 26 th at 18:00!
For convenient access to and from the SNFCC, transportation by shuttle bus is available daily to visitors, free of charge. A minibus bearing the SNFCC logo departs from Syntagma, makes a stop at Syggrou-Fix Metro station (Syggrou Avenue), and
arrives at the south side of the SNFCC Canal (near the GNO building) and vice versa. The timetable is available here.
