FOR YOUR DESTINATION

Green Destinations Support aims to help you identify the best set of modules and training courses to address your destination’s most pressing challenges.

If your objective is: learning the basic principles of sustainability

If you wish to construct a solid base ok knowledge in Sustainable Tourism Destination Management, we highly recommend starting our foundation training course.  Positive change and impactful initiatives in tourism destination management always start with the awareness of the principles of sustainability in the industry. In this course you will be guided by our experts towards learning the basic principles of sustainability and learn practical tools in shaping successful sustainable tourism destinations. This is the foundational training course of Green Destinations that was successfully piloted in Sept-Oct. 2021.

This training course has been rescheduled and will be offered on a self-paced basis at the end of June.

If your objective is: Global Recognition and Promotion

Destination Support aims to deliver a strong application to the Top 100 Stories competition, with both a strong destination self-assessment and compelling Good Practice Stories. The workshops are important for all destination managers, whether your destination participates in the Stories competition or not. The programme includes the Green Destinations Top 100 Training Course (T2) and extra live workshops in small groups, offering more than 30 hours of instruction, practical support and feedback on your sustainability reporting and storytelling.

Destination Sustainability Assessment with the SDGs or GSTC-recognised destination standards is impossible without developing suitable key performance indicators (KPIs). KPIs are necessary to create a quantitative baseline assessment, performance targets and regular monitoring progress. KPIs are not a one-size-fits-all, they depend on the destination strategy of each destination.

Considering GSTC Destination Assessment? Green Destinations Awards & Certification? Not sure whether you will qualify for certification? This Destination Support group is an affordable opportunity to assess yourself against the entire GSTC or Green Destinations Standard. Also, this group is the interactive version of the official training course on the Green Destinations Standard (GD-T4) which is an essential element of your GD or QualityCoast award & certification procedure.

Developing and ensuring a sustainable destination is not possible without the active involvement of the private sector. Destination managers are aware of this but often struggle with this aspect. There are many lessons to be learned from peers.

A large majority of travellers indicate their interest in sustainable travel offers. However, from a destination or tour operator’s point of view, it is questionable whether “sustainability” can become a unique selling point. Experts in tourism and travel marketing will support you in finding out how you can make it work.

If your objective is: Reset, recovery and Regeneration

This is the ideal workshop series to start reviewing your destination strategy. It will help you to identify the main strengths, weaknesses and opportunities of your destination in relation to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the GSTC Standard, the Green Destination Standard and the Future of Tourism Coalition’s Guiding Principles, with latest insights on tourism reset, destination regeneration, transformation and recovery.
